Abstract:
Characterization of the human body as a transmission medium for electrical signals is a necessity for using intrabody communication (IBC) technique into connecting wearable electronic sensors and devices. In this paper, we propose a novel multilayer distributed circuit model for galvanic-coupling type IBC, which is emphasized on the propagation characteristics in contrast with other IBC models. Based on the model, a program is written in MATLAB to investigate the propagation characteristics of a human body channel with the frequency of 10MHz to 20MHz and the distance of 5 cm to 10 cm. Finally, a galvanic coupling IBC measurement is implemented to verify the proposed model. The outcome proves that the model is valid and correct.
