Abstract:
A method is presented for generating highly squeezed states in a cavity field. In this scheme, a sequence of two-level atoms is sent through a resonant cavity and driven by a strong classical field; then the atomic states are measured. In this way, the cavity field may collapse onto a superposition of several coherent states, which exhibits strong squeezing.
