Abstract：
A scheme is proposed for the generation of motional Schrodinger cat states with controllable relative phase of an ion trapped in a two-dimensional harmonic potential and driven resonantly by two laser beams propagating along the X and Y directions, respectively. The scheme can also be used to generate other cat states.
