Abstract:

Taking Wanxian Yangtze River Bridge with a main span of 420m as prototype, trial design of Reactive Powder Concrete (RPC) arch bridge was carried out. Analysis results show that much thinner cross section can be adopted due to its high performance and strength, the self-weight of the arch ring can be reduced effectively, subsequently the internal forces caused by the self-weight and the difficulty in construction decrease notability. Preliminary research indicates that it is possible to use Reactive Powder Concrete (RPC) in long span arch bridge.
