Abstract:

Jointless bridge is an innovation in the concept of bridge designing. It accommodates to the requirement of durability and sustainability in the full life-cycle of bridges. Very limited design and construction guidelines are available and no unified design procedures exist nationwide. Current practice and research of jointless bridges in China have been reviewed. The technological features and constructional details of 3 integral abutment bridges and 2 semi-integral abutment bridges are introduced and research results that have been achieved are summed up. Meanwhile, the topics about the behavior of jointless bridges for further research are pointed out.
