Abstract:
Vegetation indices is often used to assess vegetation dynamics and conditions. This paper presents a primary analysis of MERIS-Full Resolution (FR) data to observe seasonal variations of Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) in Fujian province, Southeast China. The standard NDVI of MERIS is calculated by band 6 and 10. We found that the results were better when the red band 6 replaced by another red band 8. The modified NDVI (MNDVI) enhances vegetation feature while efficiently suppressing and even removing bare land information. Vegetation in summer in 2004 had a inferior condition than that in 2005 according to combined MNDVI. Temporal and spatial change of MNDVI preferably response to climate change in the study area. These meteorological variables influence MNDVI variability of different season.
