Abstract:
Typhoon Meranti made landfall in Xiamen, a coastal city of Fujian Province, on September 15, 2016. It directly affected eight provinces, such as Fujian, Guangdong and Zhejiang, causing serious loss. In Fujian province, 86 counties and 1,795,800 people were affected by this disaster. 18 people died, 11 people disappeared, and 36,700 hectares of crops were affected by this storm leaving 16.9 billion in economic loss. In Xiamen, a large number of houses and lifeline engineering were damaged; about 700,000 trees fell with various degrees. The research team arrived at the disaster scene in the first place: exploring the disaster distribution, investigating species and damaged parts of falling trees and identifying wind patterns. We analysed the relationship between urban spatial pattern and the disaster, and the effect of green on wind movements; we took Xiamen as an example to reveal the weakness of spatial combination in urban design. A spatial integration planning of architecture and plants is proposed in this paper, so as to provide strategic support for disaster prevention and mitigation.
