Abstract:
This paper aims to explore the level of residential energy consumption and CO2 emission in Chongqing, China. Using statistical data from the on demography and energy, we do a time series analysis of the effect of urbanization on residential energy consumption and CO2 emission in Chongqing. The results show that 1) Total residential CO2 emission in Chongqing was 43.7 million tonnes at the end of 2007.It increase 52% during 1998 ~ 2007. Equally, it will keep on increase in the coming future if people do not take any actions. 2) Urbanization can improve the residential energy efficiency and mitigate CO2 emission in Chongqing. 3) Main policies to reducing residential CO2 emission are to improve residential building energy efficiency, reducing the use of tradition biomass and produce cleaner electricity. © Sila Science.
