Abstract:

The facilities for slowing down the vehicle speed are settled in the highway through town, such as speed hump. A wave-shape pavement which has characteristic of riding comfort and vehicle smoothly is suggested to slow down the vehicle speed. Four kinds of the wave-shape pavement are designed and simulated. Driving test is performed by using driving simulation vehicle in the room under different driving speed. The mean square of weighed acceleration is recorded and the relation model between the driving speed, mean square of weighed acceleration and wavelength of wave-shape pavement is obtained. Then the design method and indicators are proposed accordingly. Test result shows that the wave-shape pavement can make driver slow down the driving speed voluntarily. Therefore, the speed limit can be achieved by constructing suitable wave-shape pavement. © right.
