Abstract:
S doped ZnS nanocrystals were synthesized via hydrothermal method by using thioacetamide (TAA) and zinc nitrate (Zn(NO3)2 · 6H2O) as precursors. X-ray diffraction technique (XRD) indicated that the as-prepared samples were hexagonal ZnS nanocrystals. The average diameter of as-prepared S/ZnS was estimated to be about 21 nm according to the Scherrer equation. UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra show that the as-prepared samples exhibit part of visible light absorption around 400-600 nm. The photocatalytic evaluation, via the decomposition of Rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light irradiation (λ>420 nm), reveal that nanocrystalline S/ZnS sample obtained via hydrothermal method do exhibit photocatalytic performances.
