Abstract:
The effects of structural finite element (FE) model updating based on different objective functions were compared through numerical example of FE model updating of a simply-supported beam using the zero-order and first-order optimization arithmetic in commercial ANSYS program. After that, an FE model updating method combined static displacement and dynamic modal flexibility was proposed. Based on the proposed method, the FE model of a rigid-frame arch bridge after strengthening was updated and the baseline FE model of the arch bridge after strengthening was constructed. The results show that the static and dynamic characteristics obtained from the updating FE model and field testing correlate very well, and effect of FE model updating combined the structural static and dynamic characters together is good. The updating FE model of bridge may serve as the base of health monitoring and safety evaluation of bridge.
