Abstract:
In real engineering, the surfaces are rough. To study the thermodynamics during sliding wear, based on G-W (Greenwood-Williamson) contact model, a thermo-structure coupling model for the rough surface sliding friction is established. In this model, two sliding rough surfaces are simplified to a smooth one and a rough one which has regular asperities. And the boundary condition of the moving source is considered. The model integrates the heat flux coupling between the sliding surfaces and allows the analysis of the effects of elastic deformation. From the numerical analysis the transient stress/temperature fields of the rough surfaces during frictional sliding are obtained. This gives further study on the thermo-mechanical failure and the wear mechanism for theoretical basis.
