Abstract:
The dynamic fatigue process of alumina ceramics synthesized from waste alumina slag was monitored using the method of asymmetric sine wave dynamic load variation. The damage parameter defined by the method of system analysis is used as major evaluation indexes, and both crystal structure and microstructure are utilized to discuss the factors affecting the fatigue characteristics of alumina ceramics. The most suitable content of binder was then determined. The results show that the liquid phase content is the key factor to influence the fatigue damage life of alumina ceramics. The longest crack initiation life is 225000 cycles for specimen with clay binder of 18%, corresponding with 20% liquid phase, 75% alumina phase.
