Abstract:
The fire behavior of concrete-filled double skin (CHS inner and CHS outer) steel tubular columns during exposing to the ISO-834 or GB/T 9978-1999 standard fire has been investigated and the results presented in this paper. Based on the theoretical model, influence of the changing parameters on the fire resistance and the residual strength index of the composite columns under fire are discussed. It was found, in general, that the sectional dimension, the slenderness ratio and the fire protection thickness have significant influence on the fire resistance of the composite columns, and the sectional dimension, the slenderness ratio, the hollow ratio and the fire exposure time have significant influence on the residual strength index, however, the material strength, the nominal steel ratio, the thickness of inner tube and the load eccentricity ratio have moderate influence on the fire resistance and the residual strength index. The results in this paper may be referenced for practical engineering.
