Abstract:
The effects of dynamic strain aging (DSA) on mechanical properties of materials have attracted more and more attention in recent years. The tension tests of 18-8 type austenitic stainless steel were carried out at strain rate of 5 × 10-4 and different temperatures (298-973 K) to investigate the effect of temperature on its mechanical properties. It is found that the serrated flow behavior of this material, one of the evident features of dynamic strain aging (DSA) phenomenon occurs in the temperatures of 523-673 K and 723-873 K at strain rate of 5 × 10-4 s-1. The microstructures after DSA pretreatment of this material have been systematically investigated. The results show that the interaction between the moving dislocation and solute atom during DSA makes dislocation configuration change. With increasing pre-strain temperature, the dislocation density increases and forms more complex and more stable dislocation structure.
