Abstract:

A fast and simple scheme for the generation of multiparticle maximally entangled states for trapped ions was proposed. The scheme worked in the regime in which the Rabi frequency was of the order of the vibrational frequency. The N two-level ions confined in a linear trap were considered and simultaneously the ions were driven with a laser beam, tuned to the ion transition. The only suitable mode to be exploited was the center-of-mass mode for the production of entangled states of more than four ions.
