Abstract:
The grain size and fine structure of Sb doping α-Fe2O3 nanocrystalline phase obtained by a sol-gel process have been studied with X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and Mossbauer spectrometer. The results show that before doping, the grain size of αFe2O3 formed through crystallization of Fe(OH)3 amorphous dry gel is rather coarse. After Sb doping, some of Sb atoms participate in the formation of FeSbO4. When heat treated at high temperature, the solute atoms separate out from α-Fe2O3 phase and enable the rapid growth of the grains.
