Abstract:

The reinforced concrete beam is an important load-resistant structural component in all kinds of civil engineering structures. Its damage resulted from any reasons will directly influence the load-carrying capacity and safety of the whole structure. The structural assessment of reinforced concrete beam with damage is therefore essential in structural maintenance. In this paper, a parameter identification method is proposed to assess the structural status of reinforced concrete beam, in which the change of segment flexural rigidity of reinforced concrete beams is identified based on the static load test results. The algorithm and realization procedure to identify the segment flexural rigidity of reinforced concrete beam are described in details. The method is thereafter successfully applied to a real reinforced concrete beam that is statically load tested and the structural assessment is made. It is demonstrated that the obtained results agree well with the factual status. The proposed method can be applied to the segment flexural rigidity identification and performance assessment of similar structures.
