Abstract:

Bridge health monitoring system (BHMS) is able to simultaneously get all kinds of information which reflect the safety conditions of bridge structure, and provide scientific proof for the analysis of bridge health. At present, the BHMS developed only for specific bridge or several long span bridges, and the monitoring information is not shared as a single island, there is also not have a unified and integrated monitoring platform from the urban bridge management perspective. Thus, This paper analyzed the needs of urban bridge information management of BHMS, and deeply studied on urban bridge cluster monitoring system design and implementation. It proposed detailed technology on remote monitoring subsystem, the network communication subsystem, and data storage subsystem of these key subsystems which easy to produce performance bottlenecks on the cluster monitoring system. Finally, it completed the requirements of the various subsystems to work together. Based on this system architecture and the project of main roads bridge Online Safety Monitoring Management System in Hangzhou (Phase II), a web-based platform and open-urban bridge cluster monitoring system have been established. After many years operation, the system is stable and reliable, responses under excitation of Wenchuan earthquake are successfully recognized and the real-time alarming is thus realized. © 2011 IEEE.
