Abstract:
Lignin can be adopted as a promising raw material to produce high-value products, such as adhesive, dispering agent, cement water-reducing agent, rubber reinforcing agent, waste water treatment agent, etc. In this paper, a novel granular lignin adsorbent(GLA)was synthesized using calcium lignosulphonate as a raw material which was provided by a pine sulfite pulp mill in Guangdong, China. The factors affecting the synthesis of the granular adsorbent such as disperse medium, dispersing agent, stirring condition, reaction temperature and acidity were analysed. The suitable conditions of the process were: 50% of the concentration of calcium lignosulphonate, 2 mol/L of the concentration of hydrochloric acid, 2% of the dosage of dispersant, 7% of the charge of formaldehyde, and 75-95 °C for 1-6h. The adsorption behavior on zinc ion and cationic bright-red dye was studied. The effects of the concentration, adsorption temperature, time and pH value on the absorptive capacity were analysed. It was found that the granular lignin adsorbent had an excellent adsorption performance for Zn2+ and cationic bright-red dye with nearly 100% of adsorption rate.
