Abstract:
An experimental investigation into the seismic behavior of composite concrete-filled rectangular steel tubular column with steel beam was conducted. Two kinds of connections, namely bolted flange plate (BFP) connection and welded flange plate-bolted web (WFP-BW) connection, were tested under reversed low cyclic loading at the ends of columns. This paper presents the relationships between force and displacement at the end of column, the relationships between the moment and rotation of the joints, degradations of strength and stiffness, ductility ratio and energy dissipation ratio, failure mechanism and failure characteristics of these two connections, and compares them with that of the welded flange plate (WFP) connections under different axial-compression ratios. Some valuable conclusions are drawn from the comparisons.
