Abstract:
RuO2-TiO2-SnO2 coated titanium cathodes with different amounts of RuO2 were obtained by a sol-gel procedure through painting, sintering and annealing. The microstructure, morphology and particle size of the Ti supported coatings were examined by XRD, DTA and TEM. Experiments show that the crystal size of the coating is very fine on nanometer scale, the average size is less than 5 nm. The particle size will not be sharply reduced when the amount of RuO2 increased .It is concluded that the coatings consist of a solid solution (Ru,Sn,Ti)O2 with rutile phase and it will coexist of several different kinds of rutile phases when the amount of RuO2 enhanced. When the annealing temperature is as high as 600°C, the (Ru,Sn,Ti)O2 solid solution will be decomposed and no matter how much the amount of RuO2 existed. The morphology of the crystals is equiaxial which RuO2 has a little effects on. There are ideal microstructure and morphology in the anode sample with low RuO2 content.
