Abstract:
In order to reveal the difference of several thermal analysis methods for calculating the kinetic parameters of the oxidation reaction of sulfide ores, thermal analysis experiment was carried out on a sample from typical sulfur-rich mine by using STA449C thermal analyzer. Integration methods such as Coats-Redfern, Doyle, Flynn-Wall-Ozawa (FWO) and differentiation methods such as Kissinger, Fridman and Achar were used to calculate the dynamic reaction parameters of oxidation decomposition of sulfide ore samples. The results show that the oxidation process of sulfide ores is in accordance with the first order reaction kinetics mechanism. The kinetic parameter values of sulfide ore samples at the high temperature stage are significantly higher than those at low temperature. By comparison of the results of different thermal analysis methods, it can be concluded that the results obtained by the different methods can all show combustion diversities of oxidation reaction of sulfide ores, but the discrepancy among results is remarkable depending on the specific method of calculation used. Therefore, the FWO method is used to check the kinetic parameters of the oxidation and decomposition process of sulfide ores by using the method of Coats-Redfern or Doyle by thermal analysis method under appropriate heating rate. © 2018, Central South University Press.
