Abstract:

In order to improve the diagnosis rate, a structural damage identification method based on modal indices and data fusion was proposed. In the method, multi-damage indices were used to initially diagnose damage on basis of structural vibration responses. The weighted-average algorithm was used to fuze the multi-damage indices, and the fusion decision-making and damage location were made based on the peak value method. To verify the feasibility and efficiency, the identification of both single- and multi-damage patterns were simulated for a two-span arch bridge of concrete-filled steel tubes, and the effect of noise on identification accuracy was also taken into account. A comparison was made between the fusion method and the single damage index method. The results show that the proposed method can locate both single- and multi-damage patterns, and excel the single damage index method.
