Abstract:

Under comparison of the fractal pattern and the traditional artistic pattern, the fractal pattern is a kind of the arts with mathematical characteristics. Based on complex function system and Julia set, the generation of artistic fractal patterns has been studied in this paper. First of all, the relationship between the fractal pattern and mathematical morphology parameters has been discussed; escape time algorithm was used to generate artistic fractal patterns. An actual fractal pattern generation model was established in order to discuss the control factors. Thus, a computer program has been developed to generate artistic fractal patterns. Finally, the patterns were generated by the developed program which could be applied to the artistic pattern design. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
