Abstract:
Purification preparation of high carbon copper-bearing twining induced plasticity (TWIP) steel plays an important role in fully exerting its outstanding performance. To improve the purity of high carbon copper-bearing TWIP steel, the types and sources of inclusions and the varing trends with different production processes were discussed by analyzing the non-metallic inclusions in ingot and hot-rolled sheet, which was the product of this TWIP steel vacuum induction melting and solution treatment, with optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. The result indicated TWIP steel mainly contained the inclusions of iron and manganese oxides, silicates, sulfides and nitrides. Within the temperature range of the application and heat processing of the TWIP steel, sulfides expressed excellent plasticity while nitrides were hard and brittle inclusions. The deformation characteristics of the inclusions of silicates and iron and manganese oxides were greatly influence by its component and temperature change.
