Abstract:

Great attention has been paid to one dimention nanostructures due to its high aspect ratio which contributes to Field Emission [1-2]. As an n-type semiconductor with wide band gap (3.6ev), SnO2 exhibits fascinating electric characteristics and is widely used in gas sensor [3], solar cells [4], and photoelectric apparatus [5]. Recently some studies on field emission properties of various nanostructures of SnO2 are reported. Wang have reported the turn on field of sallow-like SnO2 and fishbone-like SnO2 are 1.88V/um and 2.36 V/um respectively. And Li described that SnO2 nanorod array produced a current density of 10uA/cm2 at a field of 1.6V/um.[6-7]. In this work, SnO2 nanowires were synthesized by thermal evaporation. The morphology investigation and field emission measurement revealed the excellent field emission property and low turn on electric field. © 2010 IEEE.
