Abstract:
Earthquake resistant capability of concrete arch bridge with steel truss webs is analyzed. Taking a reinforced-concrete arch bridge as a prototype, the seismic response analysis of concrete arch bridge with steel truss webs subjected to three-directional ground motions is carried out by using the time-history analysis method. The results show that, compared with the reinforced-concrete arch bridge, the out-plane basic frequency of this new arch structure reduce 45% and in-plane basic frequency reduce 18~26%. Simultaneously, the inforce seismic response in transverse direction reduce 50% and also bending moment and thrust seismic response in longitudinal direction reduce 30% and 17% respectively. It would play a role in resisting vertical ground motion when web using steel truss instead of concrete. Concrete arch bridge with steel truss webs has a better earthquake resistance performance.
