Abstract:

Vibration control of an axially moving string system consisting of a controlled span coupled to a tensioner is investigated by considering the influence of mass of the tension pulley. Transverse response of both the controlled and uncontrolled system is derived in the frequency domain by Green function method and the wave cancellation method is then employed to design the control law for ensuring the vibration reduction. The Durbin's numerical inversion of Laplace is employed to transform the vibration response of the controlled span into time domain under initial disturbance and excitations, and then the effectiveness of the control law is demonstrated by Matlab simulation.
