Abstract:

Fault tolerant topology control is a critical problem in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). This paper proposes a PSO-based k-connected fault-tolerant topology control algorithm based on particle swarm optimization (PSO), called KFTC-PSO. This algorithm takes both the issues of node failure and power efficient into consideration. We also give the mathematical model of the k-connected fault-tolerant topology control problem and incorporate the principles of mutation and crossover operator in genetic algorithm (GA) to achieve a better diversity and break away from local optima. The simulation results show that this proposed algorithm is efficient. © 2012 IEEE.
