Abstract:
The curved girder bridges are used widely in city viaducts, interchanges and high-grade highway in China and abroad for its structural advantages and good adaptabilities. However, severe damages even collapses of curved girder bridges were occurred during the past damage earthquakes repeatedly. It implies that seismic design of curved girder bridges has not been solved perfectly. In this paper, the datum finite element model of a typical three-span continuous highway concrete curved girder bridge is established. The parameter analysis method is employed to study the effects on the seismic response caused by the variation of main design parameters, such as curvature radius, aspect ratio, ratio of span and stiffness of pier, etc. The simplified analysis condition of seismic response for multi-span continuous concrete curved bridges is given, and the simplified calculation method for irregular bridges is proposed. © 2012 American Scientific Publishers.
