Abstract:
Based on a series of isotropically consolidated undrained triaxial compression shear tests (CU tests), the pore pressure-axial strain curves of reconstituted clays with different initial water contents are obtained. A strong linear correlation between normalized pore pressure u/p' 0 and effective stress ratio η is found by studying on the relationship between pore pressure and mean pressure or deviator pressure. Furthermore, the normalized method proposed by Balasubramaniam is used in the clay, and the slope of u/p 0-η curve shows a linear decrease tendency with initial water content. Finally, using the equation of pore pressure proposed by Wood, a method for determining the pore pressure parameter a considering the influence of initial water content is suggested.
