The　theories　of　metropolitan　system　of　innovation　have　comes　into　being,　and　the　research　about　the　functions　of　KIBS　in　regional　system　of　innovation　has　embedded.　This　article　combined　these　two　new　propositions　in　views　of　academe　and　practice.　Firstly,　this　research　reviews　the　correlative　studies　and　concludes　the　roles　of　KIBS　in　regional　system　of　innovation.　Then　we　analyse　how　KIBS　serves　the　manufacturing　firms　in　metropolitan　innovation　system.　At　last　based　on　evidence　that　comes　from　the　recent　census,　the　research　analyses　the　development　of　KIBS　in　Shanghai　metropolitan　system　of　innovation　in　order　to　offer　the　practical　base　for　designing　policies.　The　finality　of　the　article　puts　forward　a　summary　of　the　research.
