Abstract:
Concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) beam with corrugated steel web is a new steel-concrete composite structure, in which corrugated steel web is used to connect the upper and lower CFST chords. Experiment research on this new composite structure is introduced. Based on the experiment results, a 3-D finite element model is presented. Using ANSYS Program, dual-nonlinear finite element analyses for the tested specimens are conducted. The analysis result achieves good agreement with that of the experiment. The deformation, strain and failure mode are studied, and the effect of filled concrete on the mechanical behavior are compared. It shows that the load carrying capacity increases with fills of concrete into the tube. Compared with the hollow steel tube, filled concrete into the upper tube improve the load carrying capacity great. The longitudinal strain in the steel web is considerably small compared with the upper and lower tube, so its contribution to the bending resistance can be ignored.
