Abstract:
The effect of nitrogen, carbon and manganese on mechanical properties and work-hardening ability metastable austenitic manganese steel was studied. The results indicated, in impact working condition, because of effects of stress wave, the wear resistance can be improved greatly when the work-hardening capacity and mechanical properties are increased together significantly. For 1.5C-12.7Mn austenitic manganese steel, when the carbon content is decreased to about 1%, the manganese content and nitrogen content are ≤0.8% and ≈0.1% respectively, a new wear-resistant steel (nitrogen microalloyed metastable austenitic Mn steel) can be obtained.
