Abstract:
Melatonin is a well-known potent antioxidant synthesized in the pineal gland. It affects functions of many organs including those of the immune system, the reproductive tract, the thyroid and the adrenals. This review collates evidence from many research laboratories that by virtue of its antioxidant activity melatonin counteracts brain function deterioration induced by senescence. Copyright © 2005 S.
