藤田枯贤教授的聊斋研究主要集中在有关蒲松龄及其著述(主要是《聊斋志异》)的资料整理、甄别和研究，《聊斋志异》与民间文艺关系的研究，以及《聊斋志异》与日本文学的比较研究等方面，并在以上领域均作出了重要贡献。
