Abstract:
The logistics industry is one of the pillars of the economy, and its carbon emissions cannot be ignored. As the forerunner of the future low carbon economy, China's coastal areas are considered to have the highest level of logistics development in China. But can logistics efficiency maintain its advanced position after taking carbon emissions into account? In this study, the GPCA-SBM model, Malmquist-Luenberger (ML) index and ArcGIS software are used to analyze the spatial differences and changes of low carbon logistics efficiency in China's coastal areas. The research results show that the spatial differences of low-carbon logistics efficiency in coastal areas of China are more significant. Generally, areas with medium and low efficiency still account for a large proportion; the high-efficiency areas are scattered, while the low -efficiency areas are distributed in a piecewise manner. Through further research on the efficiency changes, it is found that the main reason for the change of low carbon logistics efficiency is the improvement of technical efficiency caused by the progress of logistics technology in most coastal areas. In addition, the ML index analysis results show that the efficiency of low-carbon logistics in China's coastal areas decreases first and then increases, which verifies that the logistics industry in this region is undergoing the transformation and upgrading stage of low-carbon logistics. The effect of low-carbon logistics practice is not significant in the short term, but the long-term development is relatively considerable.
