Abstract:

Low-frequency noise (20–300 Hz) is harmful to humans and difficult to eliminate by traditional acoustic materials. Rare-earth high-entropy ceramic driving foamed silicone rubber composites were successfully designed and prepared as potential low-frequency noise absorbers. The sound absorption coefficient (SAC) of the composite doped with 3 wt% (Sm0.2Eu0.2Gd0.2Tm0.2Yb0.2)2Zr2O7 powder showed a 1-fold increase in the range of 130.0–152.5 Hz. The composite doped with 10 wt% (Sm0.2Eu0.2Gd0.2Tm0.2Yb0.2)CrO3 powder and 3 wt% (Sm0.2Eu0.2Gd0.2Tm0.2Yb0.2)2W3O12 powder showed an 8-fold SAC increase from 145.0 to 160.0 Hz and from 147.5 to 165.0 Hz. Compared with foamed silicone rubber, the three kinds of composites have great potential for application in the field of low-frequency sound absorption. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.
