Abstract:
This paper presents the seismic behavior of a precast concrete frame with buckling-restrained braces (BRBs-PC frame) and analyzes the structural failure mode caused by the horizontal force of BRBs. Two half-scale PC frames, with and without BRBs, were designed and tested using a pseudo-static test. During the test, the BRBs-PC frame exhibited a failure mode of beam-hinge with BRBs. When the BRBs-PC frame yielded, the ratio of the BRB's energy dissipation to total energy dissipation was 65%. Cracks appeared on the column's superimposed surfaces. The ultimate bearing capacity and energy dissipation of the BRBs-PC frame were significantly improved.
