Abstract:

Intelligent sweeping robots were first marketed in Europe and the US, and gradually entered China as the standard of living in the country improved. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of the appearance of intelligent floor robots on consumers' perceptions and preferences. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of the appearance of smart floor cleaning robots on consumer perceptions and preferences. In the first stage, the 120 adjectives collected were screened by six industrial design students to find the most suitable 40 adjectives, and then a questionnaire survey was conducted by the general consumer's semantic difference method (SD method). After the statistics were tallied using factor analysis, five groups of visual imagery adjectives about smart sweeping robots were named: sturdy and practical, technological and generous, convenient and simple, casual and fun, and smart modern. In the second stage, the questionnaire was designed by combining photos of the same viewpoint of the selected 12 groups of intelligent floor sweepers with 5 sets of visual imagery adjectives, and the questionnaire was tallied, and then the triangular fuzzy number operation of fuzzy theory was used to derive the evaluation scores of each of the 12 intelligent floor sweepers for the 5 sets of visual imagery again. The findings show that each group of smart sweepers has a unique styling imagery, with less variability in the imagery assessment of different shaped smart sweepers in the casual and fun imagery, and more variability in the four imageries of sturdy and practical, technological and generous, convenient and simple, and smart and modern. The findings suggest that some smart robots have a high degree of similarity in their stylistic imagery and that consumers are substitutable in their choice of relevant applications, such as RT, ST, MD in the second group, UU, MJ, YM, YJ in the third group, and XW, HE, KW, PS,in the fourth group.Based on the application of the above findings in practice, and the values of each of the different smart floor sweepers in the assessment of stylistic imagery, the creation of a relevant database provides valuable insights for smart floor sweeper designers and manufacturers, emphasising the importance of considering aesthetics in the design process. Future research could further explore the impact of aesthetics to better meet consumers' psychological needs, as well as on consumer behaviour and preferences for other types of household appliances. © 2023 IEEE.
