Under　the　requirement　of　the　high-quality　development　of　the　Chinese　economy,　how　promoting　the　transformation　of　industrial　structure　toward　a　cleaner　path　has　become　an　urgent　task.　Most　studies　have　examined　the　role　of　technological　advancement　in　industrial　transformation,　but　few　have　considered　the　impact　of　carbon-saving　technological　advancement.　To　address　this　gap,　this　paper　utilizes　provincial-level　data　from　China　covering　the　period　2004　to　2021　and　employs　a　stochastic　frontier　model　to　calculate　a　carbon-saving　technological　progress　index.　Based　on　this,　the　spatial　Dubin　model　was　employed　to　investigate　its　effects　on　the　cleanliness　of　industrial　structures.　The　findings　reveal　that:　(1)　Carbon-saving　technological　advancements　significantly　promote　the　cleanliness　of　industrial　structure　in　China　through　pathways　of　energy　efficiency　and　consumption　upgrading,　with　positive　spatial　spillover　effects.　(2)　As　the　level　of　the　cleanliness　in　industrial　structure　improves,　the　impact　of　carbon-saving　technological　advancements　follows　a　＇U＇-shaped　trajectory,　initially　declining　before　rising.　Additionally,　the　influence　of　heterogeneous　environmental　regulation　levels　is　determined　to　be　complex.　(3)　The　impact　of　carbon-saving　technological　advancement　is　most　pronounced　in　the　northeast　region,　followed　by　the　central　and　eastern　regions,　with　the　western　region　exhibiting　the　weakest　effect.　These　findings　provide　crucial　policy　implications　for　advancing　technological　innovation　and　sustainable　development　under　China＇s　＇new　normal＇　economic　context.　©　2025　Elsevier　Ltd
