Abstract:
Yunnan Province is rich in species of the family Pomatiopsidae, however, research on the empty shells and subfossils of Pomatiopsidae species has been limited. In this study, we describe five new species (Xiuna luojia He, Xiang, Gao, Chen gen. et sp. nov., Xiuna yaoyutongae He, Xiang, Gao, Chen gen. et sp. nov., Xiuna zhangwanxiaae He, Xiang, Gao, Chen gen. et sp. nov., Yinli lichongyei He, Xiang, Gao, Chen gen. et sp. nov. and Yinli zhuxiangyueae He, Xiang, Lv, Chen gen. et sp. nov.) belonging to two new genera (Xiuna He, Xiang, Gao, Chen gen. nov. and Yinli He, Xiang, Gao, Chen gen. nov.). These taxa were discovered in lake sediments from the now-dried Lake Lulianghai (Qujing City) and Lake Fuxian (Yuxi City), Yunnan Province. The new species exhibit unique shell morphologies, which enrichs our understanding of the potential morphological diversity within Pomatiopsidae and provides new insights into shell size and shape variations. The paper provides a morphological comparative analysis of these newly established genera.
