Abstract:
To enhance the performance of interface agents for old wall tiles (IAWT), four types of polymers (PTB, EVA, VAE, and SAE) were individually modified with IAWT. The results indicated that the polymer-modified IAWT enhanced the bond strength under freeze–thaw cycles and wind vibration, while simultaneously reducing the compressive-flexural ratio and water absorption. PTB, a ternary copolymer, presents a more complex and dense incomplete continuous spatial skeleton matrix network structure compared with other IAWT. This unique structure contributes to its superior bond strength, as well as lower compressive-flexural ratio and water absorption. This research provides a theoretical foundation for improving the performance of IAWT and practical guidelines for urban renewal projects. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.
