Abstract:
This paper introduces an LCD color modulation technology for liquid crystal displays (LCDs) based on the principle of temporal color mixing and the color misalignment method of backlight partitioning. The backlight area of the LCD is divided into multiple different partitions, and the principle of temporal color mixing is used within a single partition. Three single-primary sub frames of R/G/B are quickly displayed within one frame time, and a modulated white (W) subframe is displayed in the fourth sub frame, so that the human eye can perceive a clear and coherent image. © 2025, John Wiley and Sons Inc.
