Abstract:

This work reports the synthesis of a 1,3-linked tetracyclopentadienylcobalt-cyclobutadiene macrocycle ([CpCoCb] 4 ) via Pt-templated cyclization. Structural characterization by SCXRD confirms a C i -symmetric nanohoop (1.5 nm diameter). Unique CH-pi interactions drive the 1D channel packing. Electrochemical studies reveal multiredox activity. This work establishes a new paradigm for strained organometallic architectures with potential applications in multistate molecular electronics and host-guest systems.
