Risk-averse energy dispatch for hybrid energy refueling stations considering Boundedly rational mixed user equilibrium and operational uncertainties SCIE

Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

Nowadays, charging stations, hydrogen refueling stations, and natural gas refueling stations are being integrated into hybrid energy refueling stations (HERSs) to save investment costs and offer diverse refueling services altogether. This research proposes a risk-averse energy dispatch strategy for HERSs, incorporating bounded user rationality and operational uncertainties. A boundedly rational mixed user equilibrium model is proposed to capture the mobility of heterogeneous traffic flow, including electric vehicles (EVs), hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (HFCVs), and natural gas vehicles (NGVs), each with distinct refueling demands characterized by bounded decision-making rationality. A grid-connected HERS model integrated with carbon capture and storage and onsite renewable energy sources is designed to provide sustainable refueling services to EVs, HFCVs, and NGVs. Furthermore, an HERS operator aggregates multiple HERSs to participate in the day-ahead and real-time electricity markets. The optimal equipment operation and energy bidding strategies for the HERS operator are solved using a risk-averse approach based on conditional value-at-risk, addressing operational uncertainties from heterogeneous refueling demand, electricity markets, and renewable generation. Numerical results have validated the effectiveness of the proposed method in promoting net-zero emissions, securing economic benefits, and mitigating risks associated with operational uncertainties.

Abstract :

This paper proposes a new method for service restoration of distribution network with the support of transportable power sources (TPSs) and repair crews (RCs). Firstly, a coupling model of distribution networks and vehicle routing of TPSs and RCs is proposed, where the TPSs serve as emergency power supply sources, and the RCs are used to repair the faulted lines. Considering the uncertainty of traffic congestion, the probability distribution of the travel time spent on each road is derived based on the Nesterov user equilibrium model, and a two-stage stochastic program is formulated to determine the optimal routings of TPSs and RCs. To efficiently solve the proposed stochastic mixed-integer linear program (MILP), a two-phase scenario reduction method is then developed to scale down the problem size, and an adaptive progressive hedging algorithm is used for an efficient solution. The effectiveness of the proposed methods and algorithms has been illustrated in a modified IEEE 33-bus system.

Segmented Distributionally Robust Optimization for Real-Time Power Dispatch With Wind Uncertainty SCIE
期刊论文 | 2024 , 39 (2) , 2970-2983 | IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER SYSTEMS
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

This article proposes a novel segmented distributionally robust optimization method for real-time power dispatch with correlated wind forecast errors. In the proposed dispatch model, a segmented linear decision rule incorporating an allowed threshold for wind forecast error is developed. The excess wind fluctuation beyond the optimized threshold will be first discarded, and then units adopts the segmented linear decision for the remaining wind forecast error. The segmented linear decision rule upgrades the traditional parameterized ambiguous set into a variable-involved segmented ambiguous set, which makes the dispatch more flexible but meanwhile harder to solve. Through the equivalent conversion of uncertain variables and dual theory of semi-infinite problems, the proposed dispatch model is recast as a semi definite programming with nonconvex bilinear constraints. To solve the complex problem, a difference-of-convex optimization (DCO) addressing bilinear constraints with alternating optimization (AO)-based initialization is developed. AO with fast computing speed accelerates the convergence by producing a good enough initial feasible solution, while DCO with stronger search ability enhances the solution quality in the subsequent optimization. Finally, numerical simulations in three cases validate the economic efficiency of the proposed model and the superiority of the convexified solving method.

Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

A virtual power plant (VPP) has the ability to aggregate numerous decentralized distributed energy resources using advanced control technology, offering a promising approach for low-carbon development. In order to enhance the VPP's contribution to reducing carbon emissions, a bi-level framework is proposed that incorporates an integrated energy-carbon price response mechanism. This model allows VPPs to participate in a multi-energy system through a multi-agent Stackelberg game framework. Initially, a transaction model is established where the power distribution system operator and the gas distribution system operator act as leaders, while the virtual power plant operator acts as a follower in the multi-energy system. Subsequently, an integrated energy-carbon pricing method, rooted in carbon emission flow theory, is introduced to encourage VPPs to proactively adjust their energy-use and trading strategies within multi-energy systems, thereby promoting multi-principal interactive trading. To achieve a distributed solution among multiple entities while maintaining the privacy of each entity's information, the adaptive step-size alternating direction multiplier method is employed. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed model and method are then demonstrated through case studies.

Abstract :

A surge in EVs is bound to greatly impact on urban power grids and transportation networks. Studying how to accurately describe the impact of electric vehicle behaviors on the power-transportation network is of great significance. This paper considers the elasticity of demand for electric vehicles and their charging behaviors and introduces the quasi-variational inequalities (QVIs) to address the complexity of the game behavior modeling in the coupled network as well as its solution challenges. First, a hybrid traffic flow model is built, which includes the elastic demand and charging behavior of EVs. On this basis, a QVI framework is proposed to characterize the elastic mixed user equilibrium state, and its equivalence to the equilibrium state is proved. Secondly, a second-order cone programming model for the distribution network considering charging loads is proposed, and the coupling relationship between the two networks is established. Then, the mechanism of the coupled network is described as a double-layer game problem using fixed-point mapping. Given the characteristics of inner and outer game problems, an outer fixed point iteration algorithm and an inner viscous projection approximation algorithm are developed respectively to form a complete method for identifying the equilibrium state of the two-layer game. The simulation based on a test system in Fuzhou verifies the effectiveness of the modeling and solving methods in this paper, which shows the necessity of considering the elastic demand of EVs for the equilibrium state analysis of the coupled networks. ©2024 Chin.Soc.for Elec.Eng.

Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

With the large-scale development of electric vehicles, it is of great significance to study how to effectively consider the travel behavior mechanism of users and formulate rational charging prices for charging stations for the collaborative optimization and scheduling of power-transportation networks. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a pricing strategy for charging stations in the power-transportation coupling network considering the user travel cost budget. Firstly, a transportation user equilibrium model considering the travel cost budget is established, and the equilibrium state is equivalently described through variational inequalities, so as to characterize the travel demands and charging behaviors of electric vehicles. Secondly, a second-order cone optimization model for distribution networks considering power reduction is constructed. The charging station pricing problem has been transformed into an optimization problem with variational inequality constraints, and an alternating iteration algorithm combined with an extra-gradient algorithm is designed to solve the problem. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed model and methods is verified through a case, and the results show the necessity of considering the travel cost budget for charging pricing in coupled networks. © 2024 Automation of Electric Power Systems Press. Collaborative optimization of configuration-operation for coal-fired power plants with carbon capture considering low-carbon demand response EI CSCD PKU

Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

For the low carbon economic operation problem of power system,a collaborative optimization method for the configuration-operation of coal-fired power plants with carbon capture considering low-carbon demand response is proposed. The operation data of solvent-based carbon capture coal-fired power plants is collected on the gCCS platform, taking into account the strong coupling relationship between the power generation system and the post-combustion carbon capture system. The model parameters are identified by multiple linear regression method, and the corresponding steady-state mathematical model is constructed. The carbon emission flow theory is used to calculate the carbon emission cost on the load side, and the carbon quota is allocated according to the carbon emission intensity of generator units. And then a low-carbon demand response model is established. On this basis, the upper-level optimization model takes the lowest power plant configuration cost as the objective function to meet the capacity optimization allocation constraints. The lower-level optimization model with the goal of minimizing operating cost is established to meet the system operation constraints. The simulation analysis is implemented on the modified IEEE 24-bus system,by which the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified. © 2024 Electric Power Automation Equipment Press.
