Spatial correlation network structure and its influencing factors on municipal solid waste carbon emissions in three major urban agglomerations in China EI

Abstract :

As key drivers of urbanisation and economic growth in China, major urban agglomerations play a critical role in mitigating carbon emissions from municipal solid waste (MSW) treatment. This study investigated the spatial correlation network and its underlying drivers across 63 cities in urban agglomerations from 2006 to 2022, using social network analysis and quadratic assignment procedure regression. The results reveal that the total MSW carbon emissions peaked at 1.28 million tons in 2017 and dropped to − 27,200 tons by 2022, with 87.30 % of cities achieving net-negative emissions. The emissions network evolved into a core-periphery structure, with leading cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou driving regional coordination. Intercity linkages increased from 708 in 2010 to 1246 in 2022, reflecting a shift from fragmented, unidirectional flows to a more integrated, bidirectional network. Further, divergences in population density, treatment capacity, and policy support consistently fostered stronger network connectivity, whereas mismatches in technology, industrial structure, and economic development posed persistent barriers to collaboration, varying notably across urban agglomerations. These findings underscore the need for region-specific governance models and differentiated policy strategies to strengthen spatial coordination for MSW carbon mitigation. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

Abstract :

In the principal-agent system where local governments commission recyclers to recycle and dispose of low-value recyclables, the recycler’s capacity type and effort level are their private information, resulting in the problem of double asymmetric information. The recycler’s fairness preference also has an impact on the implementation effect of the local government’s commission contract. This paper considers the design problem of incentive mechanism for recyclers with horizontal fairness preference under double asymmetric information, builds incentive mechanism models for the recycling and disposal system of low-value recyclables under complete rationality, disadvantageous and dominant unfairness, characterizing the optimal contract characteristics. The results show that: subsidies based on quantity under disadvantageous unfairness can help offset the negative effects of jealousy and motivate recyclers to put in the best effort level. While under the dominant unfairness preference, the recycler’s income from accepting the contract is higher than the average income in the same industry. At this time, it should be changed to a fixed subsidy as the main method to ensure the basic interests of recyclers, which can better mobilize the enthusiasm of recyclers. At the same time, it is found that under the optimal contract provided, the higher the intensity of the recycler’s disadvantageous unfairness preference or the lower the intensity of the recycler’s dominant unfairness preference, the more sufficient the recycling and disposal of low-value recyclables, and the higher the profits of both the principal and the agent. © 2025 Northeast University. Abstract :

由地方政府委托回收商回收处置低值可回收物的委托代理系统中,回收商的能力类型和努力水平是其私有信息,导致了双重不对称信息问题,而回收商的公平偏好也对地方政府委托合同的实施效果产生影响.考虑双重信息不对称下回收商具有横向公平偏好的激励机制设计问题,构建完全理性、劣势和占优不公平偏好下的低值可回收物回收处置系统的激励机制模型,刻画最优的契约特征.研究表明:劣势不公平偏好下以按量补贴为主有助于抵消嫉妒负效用的影响,激励回收商付出最佳努力水平;而在占优不公平偏好下,回收商接受契约的收益高于同行业平均收益,此时应转变为以固定补贴为主,保证回收商的基本利益更能调动回收商的积极性.同时发现,在所提供最优契约下,回收商的劣势不公平偏好强度越高或占优不公平偏好强度越低,低值可回收物的回收处置越充分,委托代理双方收益越高.

Abstract :

从城区居民角度出发,整合计划行为理论、规范激活理论和社会交换理论构建城区居民电子废弃物资源化利用行为影响因素模型,运用结构方程模型等研究方法进行分析.结果表明:资源化利用态度、知觉行为控制、个人规范、社会压力、感知损失对居民电子废弃物资源化利用意向有直接影响,且影响力度从大到小递减.性别、年龄、教育程度也会影响整合模型的部分变量.据此,提出如下建议:开展资源化利用宣传教育;健全资源化利用网络体系;规范资源化利用市场秩序.

Abstract :

明确"城市矿产"资源化共生网络利益主体间竞合关系的演变过程对于提升资源化利用效率具有重要意义.本文基于逆向供应链与逆向供应链竞争的视角,构建了不同政府补贴条件与不同纵向结构决策下的六组模式,对比了不同合作模式的均衡结果,考察了纵向结构选择策略的演变路径,探究了横向主体竞合关系对纵向竞合行为的影响机制,并通过一系列拓展模型分析与数值仿真验证了相关结论的稳定性.研究表明:1)共生网络将在双链均选择集中决策结构时最大程度地发挥"城市矿产"资源化的经济、环境与社会三重价值;2)就占优策略而言,双链选择均集中或均分散决策模式均有可能成为均衡策略,这是因为回收商横向竞争会通过影响上游再制造商的共生程度来改变供应链整体利润,从而影响供应链纵向结构策略选择;3)共生程度并非越高越好,过高的共生水平将弱化集中决策结构的正外部性;4)政府的补贴政策将有助于优化"城市矿产"资源化效率,并且补贴给再制造商比补贴给回收商更能提升社会福利,但补贴政策效应将在共生后期失效.因此,调控回收商竞争程度、保持共生程度处于适当区间、制定适当的激励政策将有助于均集中决策模式实现供应链整体利润的Pareto改进,从而推动共生主体从竞争关系走向稳定合作状态.

Abstract :

Clarifying the provincial spatial correlation network of municipal solid waste (MSW) carbon emissions and its influencing factors is significant for reducing MSW carbon emissions and for ensuring cross-regional coordinated emission reduction. This study used a modified gravity model and social network analysis to explore the structural characteristics of the spatial correlation network of MSW carbon emissions. The quadratic assignment procedure was then used to examine the influencing factors. The results are as follows: (1) From 2005 to 2020, the MSW carbon emissions spatial correlation network showed an intuitive and complex network structure. The tightness of the network increased with fluctuations but still needs improvement, while the network structure exhibited good accessibility and stability. (2) The spatial network exhibited a significant "core-edge" distribution, with Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Fujian being at the center of the spatial correlation network and playing leading roles. (3) The spatial correlation network of MSW carbon emissions was divided into four parts, with the four parts having few internal connections but with the relationships between them being close. (4) Geographical adjacency, economic development level, science and technology level, and MSW treatment structure significantly influenced spatial correlations, while the urbanization level and degree of government intervention had no significant influence on spatial correlations.

Abstract :

In the face of diminishing traditional subsidy models and the constraints of grid-dependent transactions, this study explores trading models as a catalyst for rural electrification and sustainable development in China. Highlighting the emergence of rural photovoltaic (PV) prosumers, we propose trading models through cooperative alliances to facilitate market engagement within a peer-to-peer (P2P) framework. By applying the Shapley value for the equitable distribution of internal revenues, the study elucidates the complex interrelations between rural prosumers and the electrical grid, fostering a better understanding of their mutual interests. Further, we introduce a dynamic game-theoretic model to investigate the evolving market behaviors under diverse strategic influences among rural prosumer groups and the grid. Using numerical simulations based on real-world data from Shanghang County, Fujian Province, we analyze surplus and deficit electricity production scenarios within these alliances. The findings underscore the effectiveness of the cooperative alliance trading model in aligning individual, collective, and societal benefits. This comparative analysis of strategic outcomes validates the model's feasibility and role in advancing sustainable rural electrification strategies.

Abstract :

Improving green economic efficiency is necessary for China to address resource shortages and achieve sustainable development. Recent research has focused on the impact of the Energy Consumption Permit Trading Scheme (ECPTS) on environmental pollution. However, there has been little research on how the ECPTS affects green economic efficiency. Based on panel data from 282 cities in China from 2004 to 2020, this study employed the super-efficiency SBM model to measure the green economic efficiency of these cities and the DID model to empirically test the impact, heterogeneity, and mechanisms of the ECPTS on green economic efficiency. The results indicate that the ECPTS significantly improves urban green economic efficiency in China. This conclusion still holds after a series of robustness tests. Heterogeneity analysis shows that the ECPTS significantly enhances green economic efficiency in central, non-first-tier, and resource-based cities. Further mechanism analysis indicates that the promotion of energy efficiency during the sample period is the primary driver of the improvement in urban green economic efficiency. Finally, the research results provide a reference for policy-makers to support the implementation of the ECPTS and enhance urban green economic efficiency.

Abstract :

Evaluation ecosystem service value (ESV) is critical, as "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets". To assess the incremental effects of ecological assets on soil and water conservation in subtropical mountains, we developed a remote-sensing-driven mountainous equivalent factor (RS-MEF) method to estimate the ESV of Changting County, China. This method is a hybrid of a conventional equivalent factor framework and remote sensing techniques for mountains, achieving several advancements, including spatial adjustment using vegetation activity merged with productivity, improved spatial resolution, and the removal of topographic effects. Using the RS-MEF method, we estimated that the ESV of Changting County was approximately CNY 15.80 billion in 2010 and CNY 34.83 billion in 2022. Specifically, the ESV per unit area of the major soil erosion area (MSEA) in the county was less than that of the non-major soil erosion area (n-MSEA); however, the ESV growth rate of the MSEA from 2010 to 2022 was faster than that of the n-MSEA. Therefore, the ESV gap between the two areas was reduced from 28.99% in 2010 to 15.83% in 2022. Topographic gradient analysis illustrates that areas with elevations of 385 to 658 m and steep slopes achieved a high ESV, while high-elevation areas with gentle slopes will be a focus of control in the next phase. Our study demonstrates that significant achievements have been made in ecological restoration from an ESV perspective, with a notable reduction in low-ESV areas in the MSEA; the insights gained into ESV growth and its underlying factors are valuable and instructive for future soil and water conservation efforts.

基于 2020 年中国家庭追踪调查(CFPS)数据,文章实证分析了数字经济对就业质量的影响.结果表明,数字经济发展显著提升了劳动力就业质量,其贡献度超过传统经济.异质性分析发现,数字经济发展对中低学历劳动者就业质量的提升作用更大且更显著;对农村劳动力就业质量的促进作用强于城镇劳动力,有助于城乡融合发展.研究还发现数字经济显著提高了劳动力的薪资待遇、社会保障和权益保障水平,降低了工作强度,并扩大了不同学历劳动者之间的薪资待遇差异,缩小了社会保障与权益保障差异.因此,应充分发挥数字经济的积极作用,推动数字经济与实体经济深度融合,促进高质量就业.
