商业模式创新与制造业企业后发追赶

Abstract :

商业模式创新是后发企业在短时期内实现快速追赶的重要途径.然而,企业商业模式创新和后发追赶之间的边界条件尚未得到充分探索.选取2012-2022年制造业上市公司的相关数据,从理论和实证层面探讨商业模式创新对企业后发追赶的影响.研究发现:商业模式创新对企业的市场追赶和技术追赶有积极且显著的影响,在使用工具变量法、变量替换和其他稳健性检验后,结果仍然有效;调节效应检验发现,技术积累正向调节商业模式创新对企业技术追赶的促进作用,负向调节商业模式创新对企业市场追赶的促进作用.通过拓展企业后发追赶研究的理论视角,以期为企业制定商业模式和追赶策略提供有益指导.

Abstract :

PurposeWith ongoing technological advancements and profound shifts in industrial dynamics, the digital innovation ecosystem offers significant opportunities for transforming and developing the high-end equipment manufacturing industry (HEMI). However, there is limited research on how the digital innovation ecosystem influences intelligent development in HEMI, especially concerning the in-depth examination of key characteristics in each sub-industry. This paper examines HEMI sub-industries to explore the relationship between the digital innovation ecosystem and intelligent development. It also identifies how different sub-industries emphasize various ecosystem characteristic elements. The ultimate goal is to provide specific theoretical support and practical policy guidance for achieving intelligent development in each sub-industry.Design/methodology/approachThis study employs a multi-layer perceptron (MLP) model to analyze feature importance and evaluate the digital innovation ecosystem's impact on intelligent development across HEMI sub-industries. By analyzing data from 181 enterprises across five sub-industries - aerospace equipment, ocean engineering equipment, satellite manufacturing and applications, rail transit equipment and intelligent manufacturing equipment - it identifies and ranks the contributions of ecosystem elements to intelligent development. The findings uncover critical trends and focal points within the ecosystem, providing nuanced and targeted guidance for practical implementation in each sub-industry.FindingsThe research findings indicate that the digital innovation ecosystem positively drives intelligent development across various sub-industries. However, differences exist in the impact of the digital innovation ecosystem on the intelligent development of different sub-industries. Notably, due to the distinct developmental characteristics inherent to each sub-industry, they place different emphases on selecting elements in the digital innovation ecosystem. These observations contribute to the formulation of differentiated development strategies and provide practical development pathways for a comprehensive understanding of the influencing mechanisms in each industry.Originality/valueThis paper elucidates the specific impacts of the digital innovation ecosystem on the intelligent development of HEMI sub-industries. Empirical research analyzes the selection emphasis on characteristic elements within the digital innovation ecosystem for each sub-industry, addressing gaps in detailed studies. By employing an MLP model and feature heatmaps through deep learning methods, this study offers a novel theoretical perspective on the intelligent development of enterprises across sub-industries.

Digital technology has a significant influence on future economic growth. Achieving catch-up in the context of digital development is crucial for firms. However, the mechanisms between firms’ digital technology adoption (DTA) and catch-up are underexplored. Based on panel data of A-share listed manufacturing firms in China from 2012 to 2021, this study investigates the impact of DTA on firms’ technological catch-up (TC) and market catch-up (MC) from theoretical and empirical perspectives. The following findings are drawn. (1) DTA positively and significantly affects firms’ TC and MC, and the results remain valid after using the instrumental variables method, propensity score matching, and other robustness tests. After removing the order-of-magnitude discrepancies and dimensions, DTA had a more significant effect on MC than TC. (2) Dynamic capacity mediates the relationship between DTA and firms’ catch-up. (3) The heterogeneity analysis finds that DTA influences TC and MC in state-owned enterprises and high-tech firms more significantly. This study provides a new perspective on firms’ catch-up and guides for firms to develop effective DTA and catch-up strategies. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Abstract :

数字化转型是未来经济增长的引擎,如何在数字经济背景下实现后发追赶是企业发展的核心议题。然而,企业数字化转型和后发追赶之间的关系机制尚未得到充分探索。本文基于2012~2022年制造业上市企业的相关数据,从理论和实证层面探讨数字化转型对企业后发追赶的影响。研究结果如下:(1)数字化转型对企业的技术追赶和市场追赶有积极且显著的影响,在使用工具变量法、倾向评分匹配和其他稳健性检验后,结果仍然有效。此外,数字化转型对市场追赶的提升作用比技术追赶更强;(2)机制检验发现,数字化转型主要通过提升动态能力的途径促进企业后发追赶;(3)异质性检验发现,相较于非国有企业和非高技术产业企业,数字化转型对国有企业和高技术产业企业追赶的促进作用更强。本文拓展了企业后发追赶研究的视角,并为企业制定数字化转型和追赶策略提供了依据。

PurposeThis study explores how the high-end equipment manufacturing industry (HEMI) achieves intelligent development through the digital innovation ecosystem. While this industry urgently needs to achieve intelligent development through innovation breakthroughs, existing research lacks a deep analysis in conjunction with the digital innovation ecosystem. Considering the sophisticated nature of HEMI and the unique characteristics of the digital innovation ecosystem, this paper aims to uncover the innovation potential and synergetic development opportunities that arise from their integration.Design/methodology/approachThis study uses Dynamic Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) to explore the evolving relationship between the digital innovation ecosystem and intelligent development in HEMI enterprises. Data from 60 HEMI enterprises were collected from 2015 to 2022, and the study window was divided into two-year intervals for analysis. Compared to traditional QCA methods, this approach overcomes the limitations of cross-sectional analysis, fully accounting for time's influence on causal relationships for more accurate results.FindingsThe study reveals that the digital innovation ecosystem of HEMI drives intelligent development through the coordinated interactions of its elements within each time window. Configuration paths and key driving factors evolve dynamically, reflecting the complexity of the ecosystem's role in driving intelligent development. The study suggests that enterprises dynamically adjust their strategies to different stages, enhancing the effectiveness of intelligent transformation.Originality/valueThe paper proposes and validates a digital innovation ecosystem framework for HEMI, systematically exploring its role in driving intelligent development. The study fills a research gap and extends innovation ecosystem theory by identifying core driving factors and their evolutionary trends through Dynamic QCA. It offers a new perspective on the dynamic role of digital innovation ecosystems in intelligent transformation.

Abstract :

企业数字化转型是数字中国建设中的重要组成部分,如何有效配置能力推动数字化转型升级是有待回答的重要问题。本文立足高管和组织层面能力视角,以中国沪深A股上市108家物流企业为样本,运用必要条件分析法与模糊集定性比较分析法,探究高管领导能力(高管社会资本、高管人力资本、高管认知)和组织成长能力(创新能力、吸收能力、适应能力)对企业数字化转型的影响。研究发现:单个能力并非是企业数字化转型的必要条件,但提高吸收能力对高水平数字化转型起到普适的作用;实现高水平数字化转型的充分条件是不同能力的协同匹配,但不要求每个能力均处于高水平状态;存在3条高水平数字化转型组态路径(S1a、S1b、S2)和3条非高水平数字化转型组态路径(NS1、NS2、NS3),且高水平与非高水平的数字化转型路径是非对称关系。

Abstract :

企业实现技术升级的具体策略亟待解决.纵观发展历程,我国企业主要依靠内部研发和技术引进两条路径进行技术创新.选用2011~2019年我国规上工业企业的面板数据为样本,将企业创新绩效分为技术型与市场型两种,重点考察内部研发与技术引进的创新绩效差异、二者关系以及二者相互作用如何影响企业创新绩效.结果表明:相较于引进技术,内部研发对提升企业创新绩效具有更显著的积极作用,加强研发投入是企业提升创新绩效的主要途径;政府支持促进企业专利申请数量的提升,企业规模对企业创新绩效有正向影响;内部研发与国内技术购买之间存在协同效应,与国外技术引进之间存在替代关系.研究结论可对现阶段我国工业企业理性地选择技术创新路径提供参考.

Abstract :

Increasing information can make actions more effective, thereby improving cooperation levels. However, this assumption lacks experimental support in the case of long-range migration, and the potential mechanism for higher cooperation rates resulting from inter-group migration is not yet clear. Therefore, we mainly studied the impact of four different information levels on group cooperation behavior from an experimental perspective through public goods game experiments in the context of long-range migration. The results indicate that the amount of information can significantly affect individual mobility and cooperation evolution. Defection prevails among players in the absence of information, leading to the formation of a stable cluster of defectors. However, with increased information about profit calculation rules, players tend to settle in favorable cooperative groups. Increased information about the decisions of other players speeds up the formation of stable cooperative groups. Excessive information disclosure about payoffs leads to increased mobility and reduced cooperation among group members. These findings provide insights into our understanding of the evolution history of human cooperation and the formation of groups.

PurposeWith the deep development of the new technological revolution and industrial transformation, the development, application, expansion and integration of digital technology provide opportunities for transforming the manufacturing industry from traditional manufacturing to intelligent manufacturing. However, little research currently focuses on analyzing the influencing factors of intelligent development in this field. There is a lack of research from the perspective of the digital innovation ecosystem to explore the intrinsic mechanism that drives intelligent development. Therefore, this article starts with high-end equipment manufacturing enterprises as the research subject to explore how their digital innovation ecosystem promotes the effectiveness of enterprise intelligent development, providing theoretical support and policy guidance for enterprises to achieve intelligent development at the current stage.Design/methodology/approachThis article constructs a logical framework for the digital innovation ecosystem using a "three-layer core-periphery" structure, collects data using crawling for subsequent indicator measurement and assessment and uses the fuzzy set Qualitative Comparative Analysis method (fsQCA) to explore how the various components of the digital innovation ecosystem in high-end equipment manufacturing enterprises work together to promote the development of enterprise intelligently.FindingsThis article finds that the various components of the digital innovation ecosystem of high-end equipment manufacturing enterprises, through mutual coordination, can help improve the level of enterprise intelligence. Empirical analysis shows four specific configuration implementation paths for the digital innovation ecosystem of high-end equipment manufacturing enterprises to promote intelligent development. The core conditions and their combinations that affect the intelligent development of enterprises differ in each configuration path.Originality/valueFirstly, this article discusses the practical problems of intelligent transformation and development in the manufacturing industry and focuses on the intelligent development effectiveness of various components of the digital innovation ecosystem of high-end equipment manufacturing enterprises in the context of digitalization. Secondly, this article uses crawling, text sentiment analysis and other methods to creatively collect relevant data to overcome the research dilemma of being limited to theoretical analysis due to the difficulty in obtaining data in this field. At the same time, based on the characteristics of high-end equipment manufacturing enterprises, the "three-layer core-periphery" digital innovation ecosystem framework constructed in this article helps to gain a deep understanding of the development characteristics of the industry's enterprises, provides specific indicator analysis for their intelligent development, opening the "black box" of intelligent development in the industry's enterprises and bridging the gap between theory and practice. Finally, this study uses the fsQCA research method of configuration analysis to explore the complexity of the antecedents and investigate the combined effects of multiple factors on intelligent development, providing new perspectives and rich research results for relevant literature on the intelligent development of high-end equipment manufacturing enterprises.
