Spatial and Temporal Dynamic Evolution and Correlation of Ecological Quality and Ecosystem Service Value in Fujian Province SCIE SSCI
期刊论文 | 2024 , 16 (12) | SUSTAINABILITY
Abstract&Keyword Cite Version(1)

Abstract :

To promote sustainable development and improve human well-being, understanding how ecological quality influences ecosystem service value is essential. In this study, we quantified the ecological quality and ecosystem service value in Fujian Province from 2000 to 2021 using the Remote-Sensing Ecological Index (RSEI) and the Equivalent Factor Approach, respectively. This analysis aimed to examine their spatial and temporal dynamic evolution and to explore the correlation between the two. The results indicate that the temporal and spatial patterns of ecological quality and ecosystem service value in Fujian Province from 2000 to 2021 were similar, with both showing fluctuating upward trends over time. The spatial distributions were high in central and northern Fujian and low in the southeastern coastal areas. The Pearson correlation analysis revealed reveals a significant positive correlation between the RSEI and ecosystem service value (r = 0.673, p < 0.01), suggesting a synergistic relationship. The highest correlation was observed between the supporting service value and the RSEI indicators (|r| = 0.449-0.815, p < 0.01), and between the NDVI and the supporting service value (r = 0.815, p < 0.01). The spatial autocorrelation analysis also showed that ecological quality and ecosystem service value were positively correlated spatially, with high-high agglomerations concentrated in northwest and central Fujian, and low-low agglomerations in the coastal area of south Fujian.

Abstract :

To cope with the environmental pollution caused by carbon emissions, Western countries, such as Switzerland and Germany, have implemented corporate carbon taxes to reduce carbon emissions and have achieved significant results. As one of the world's most carbon-intensive countries, China must take serious action to limit future emission increases through the implementation of carbon tax policies. This study investigated the evolutionary strategies and mechanisms of the interaction between new energy vehicle manufacturers and local governments under static and dynamic carbon taxes. Based on prospect theory, we constructed evolutionary game models between new energy vehicle manufacturers and local governments under static and dynamic carbon tax mechanisms. This study explored the impact of different initial values on the evolutionary results of the game and the different evolutionary paths of the system under static and dynamic carbon tax mechanisms. The ideal carbon tax starting rate was determined to be 0.15. The results of the theoretical model analysis were simulated to provide a theoretical reference for the establishment of a carbon tax system conducive to low-carbon development. The results of the study were: (1) there were differences in the paths and outcomes of the system's evolution to a stable state under different initial values and combinations of strategies; (2) the dynamic carbon tax mechanism was more favorable for the development of the new energy vehicle industry, and the system had no stable point and equilibrium strategy under the static carbon tax mechanism; and (3) the use of a lower starting rate at the beginning of the carbon tax collection process was helpful in encouraging new energy vehicle firms to select a low-carbon production strategy.

Nitrogen Distribution and Soil Microbial Community Characteristics in a Legume-Cereal Intercropping System: A Review SCIE

Abstract&Keyword Cite Version(1)

Abstract :

Intercropping systems can flexibly use resources such as sunlight, heat, water, and nutrients in time and space, improve crop yield and land utilization rates, effectively reduce continuous cropping obstacles and the occurrence of diseases and insect pests, and control the growth of weeds. Thus, intercropping is a safe and efficient ecological planting mode. The legume-cereal intercropping system is the most common planting combination. Legume crops fix nitrogen from the atmosphere through their symbiotic nitrogen fixation abilities, and the fixed nitrogen can be transferred to and utilized by cereal crops in various ways. The symbiotic nitrogen fixation efficiency of legume crops was improved by reducing the inhibition of soil nitrogen on nitrogenase activity through competitive absorption of soil nitrogen. However, the effects of nitrogen transformation and distribution in intercropping systems and microbial community structure characteristics on nitrogen transfer need to be further explored. In this review, (i) we present the transformation and distribution of nitrogen in the legume-cereal intercropping system; (ii) we describe the soil microbial community characteristics in intercropping systems; and (iii) we discuss the advantages of using modern biological molecular techniques to study soil microorganisms. We conclude that intercropping can increase the diversity of soil microorganisms, and the interaction between different plants has an important impact on the diversity and composition of the bacterial and fungal communities. The extensive application of modern biological molecular techniques in soil microbial research and the great contribution of intercropping systems to sustainable agriculture are particularly emphasized in this review.

Abstract :

The rapid urbanization process has severely affected the ecological security and ecosystem services (ESs) in China's southern province of Fujian, and threated the sustainable development of the local economy and society in the last two decades. This study mapped the spatial-temporal variation of four types of ESs and evaluated the tradeoffs/synergies among the ESs in Fujian Province from 2000 to 2020 on the three scales of the province, city and county. The results showed that: (1) From 2000 to 2020, the three ESs functions of soil conservation service, carbon storage service, and habitat quality decreased, while the function of food supply service increased. (2) At the provincial scale, soil conservation services, carbon storage services, and habitat quality were in a synergistic relationship, and food supply service was always in tradeoffs relationships with soil conservation services, carbon storage services, and habitat quality. At the prefecture-level scale, the tradeoffs/synergies among ESs vary among prefecture-level cities. At the county scale, the Moran's I index of bivariate spatial autocorrelation was consistent with the correlation coefficient, and the tradeoffs/synergies between ESs showed significant spatial heterogeneity. (3) Based on the correlation analysis method, the Ecosystem Service Tradeoff-synergy Degree (ESTD) model and bivariate spatial autocorrelation analysis can clearly show the relationship between various ESs, and the research results are relatively consistent. The spatial distribution of four ecosystem services in Fujian province showed a specific aggregation pattern. High-high concentrations and low-low concentrations are strong. Low-high agglomeration and high-low agglomeration are weak.

Abstract :

The assessment of watershed ecosystem health promotes the construction of ecological civilisation in China, and assessment results are an important basis for watershed planning and management. At present, research on and application of small watershed ecosystem health assessment in China are deficient. Thus, small watershed protection and management in China are restricted. The research object of this study is a small watershed of Changqing River in Yongtai County of Fuzhou City. Using satellite image data, digital elevation data as well as field and monitoring data combined with 3S technology, the health status of the small watershed ecosystem was evaluated by three assessment systems consisting of remote sensing data, measured survey data and multi-source data. The watershed ecosystem health status was quantitatively analysed, and a comparative analysis with the results of different evaluation methods was conducted. Results show that, in general, the comprehensive indexes of ecosystem health obtained by the three evaluation methods are 70.29, 77.68 and 63.87. The evaluation results support the notion that the research status of the watershed ecosystem is satisfactory. The overall ecosystem health status of the high mountains sub-watershed in the northwest and in the southwest of the watershed is relatively acceptable but that of the middle and lower reaches is relatively poor. Finally, the evaluation results of the three methods were compared, and their differences were analysed, it can provide a basic idea for the ecosystem health evaluation of the small watershed.

Abstract :

Poverty and inequality remain outstanding challenges in many global regions. Understanding the underlying social and economic conditions is important in formulating poverty eradication strategies. Using Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Night-Time Light (NTL) images and multidimensional socioeconomic data between 2012 and 2018, this study measured regional poverty and inequality in the Xiamen-Zhangzhou-Quanzhou city cluster in the People's Republic of China. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and the Theil index decomposition method were used to establish an Integrated Poverty Index (IPI) and a regional inequality index, respectively. The results indicated that: (1) The poverty index is affected by the geographical location, policies, and resources of a district/county. A significant logarithmic correlation model between VIIRS Average Light Index (ALI) and IPI was established. (2) The Theil index derived from Gross Domestic Product (GDP) indicators showed that overall inequality and between-prefecture inequality declined, while within-prefecture inequality remained unchanged. In terms of the contributions to regional inequality, the contribution of within-prefecture inequality is the largest. The results indicated that Suomi National Polar Partnership/Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (NPP/VIIRS) night-time data can help to perform district/county-level poverty assessments at small and medium spatial scales, although the evaluation effect on regional inequality is slightly lower.

Abstract :

Low-impact development (LID) is generally regarded as an effective solution for urban stormwater management. However, the effects of LID on storm flooding on an urban drainage systems scale have not been fully understood under different rainfall characteristics. In this paper, using a high-density residential catchment in China as a case study, the PCSWMM model is applied to simulate the control effects of seven LID land layout scenarios on water quantity and quality of rainfall runoff under different rainfall return periods, durations, and locations of peak rainfall intensity. The simulations indicated the following results: (1) All seven LID scenarios are more effective in flood control during smaller rainfall return periods and longer rainfall duration storms, and the influence of locations of peak rainfall intensity on the rainfall runoff is not obvious. (2) Permeable pavement is the best choice in single LID measures, and the combination of permeable pavement, vegetative swale, and a green roof is the best choice among combined LID layouts. This paper gives insight into the performance of LID designs under different rainfall characteristics, which is essential for effective sponge city construction.

Abstract :

3 universal green infrastructures (green roof, vegetative swale and permeable pavement) and 2 grey infrastructure mitigations (large diameter tube & reservoir) were selected to design 9 types of storm water drainage system modification scenarios in Fuzhou University campus. Under different extreme weather conditions (3 recorded rainfall events with different duration), SWMM model was used to analyze urban stormwater and flood control effect under different simulation scenarios (SS1~SS9). The control effect included runoff depth, node J8 flood flow and flood time, peak time and full flow time in C8 pipeline. The simulations results showed that simulation scenarios including green infrastructure had better control effect. Compared to other simulation scenarios, combinations of green roofs, vegetative swales and continuous permeable pavement systems (SS7) exhibited the best control effect on runoff depth under 3 rainfall events, the reduction ratio under the middle duration rainfall event was the highest, reaching 78%. While combinations of green roofs, vegetative swales, continuous permeable pavement systems and large diameter tubes (SS8, with the characteristics of infiltration, retention and quick drainage) displayed the best control effect on node J8 flood flow and flood time under 3rainfall events, reaching 100%. On the pipe flood control aspect, three combinations including green roofs, vegetative swales, continuous permeable pavement systems (SS7, SS8 and SS9) had a better effect on peak flow and full flow time in C8 pipeline than other simulation scenarios. Combinations of green roofs, vegetative swales, continuous permeable pavement systems and reservoirs (SS9) had the minimum full flow time and latest peak time in the short duration rainfall event. Combinations of green roofs, vegetative swales and continuous permeable pavement systems (SS7) had the minimum full flow time and latest peak time in the long duration rainfall event. Three combinations (SS7, SS8 and SS9) had no distinct differences on pipeline flood control in the middle duration rainfall event. © 2019, Editorial Board of China Environmental Science.
